Is It Too Late To Plan A 2026 Wedding?

The most romantic holidays have just passed us by, and if your Christmas or Valentine’s Day gift was a shiny, gorgeous new ring, you’re likely in the early stages of wedding planning. First… congratulations! Second…welcome to one of the most exciting times in your life! Now, if you simply can’t wait to tie the knot…fear not…there’s still time to plan a wedding this year!

While the average wedding timeline on Google often details 12-18 months out, you can host a stunning event in only a handful of months. In fact, recent wedding industry trend reports reveal that Gen Z couples are opting out of several traditional aspects. Not only are they tightening up planning timelines, but they are also focusing on unique guest experiences (hello, dance floor cannoli), picking out more authentic wedding gear that goes beyond white dresses and black suits, putting thrifted and vintage décor at the forefront, and even using AI for inspo.

So, throw that old wedding playbook out of the window…or at the floor if you’re not near a window… here’s how you can still plan your perfect wedding in 2026.

Pick Your Wedding Venue:

First thing’s first…consider your wedding budget, guest count, and preferred time of year. The Elliot makes it super easy to find wedding dates via the availability calendar.

An open day means you can get married…even if it’s on a Wednesday. (Hey, we told you to throw out that rulebook…you can exchange vows any day of the week.)

September and October tend to be the most popular wedding months in Cleveland, meaning weekends are snatched up quickly. However, autumn weekdays and Sunday evenings are often available, and November and December weekends are usually more open as well.

So, check in with your preferred venue(s) and ask for availability. Once you settle on a date…the real fun starts!

Find Your Vendors

Finding vendors may feel overwhelming, but rest assured, social media has made it super easy to find photographers, videographers, florists, cake bakers, caterers, and more. Everyone is just a DM or e-mail away. We love technology! Should you find a vendor you love who is booked up on your wedding day, don’t be afraid to ask if they have any industry friends or recommendations for you. We all have your back to make your day perfect!

Excitingly, The Elliot wants to make your life even simpler—you’re welcome. With exclusive catering teams and partnered vendors, you’ll have delicious bites, linens, entertainment options, etc., at the ready for your event, even if it’s only a month away.

Need help with planning? The Elliot also offers an array of in-house full and partial planning packages to take added stresses off of your already full plates.

Grab Your Wedding Gear

If you’re going the traditional route with a white gown, keep in mind that the average wedding dress takes 5-8 months to craft and ship. But don’t worry! There are many ways to find your perfect fit.

Local bridal shops often offer sample sales, which is ideal, because you can get amazing designer gowns for way less. Or, consider online bridal shops for fast shipping, such as Lulus and Azazie.

If you need dress alterations, you can work alongside your local seamstress to create a timeline that works for both of you. Expect alterations to require a couple of weeks to a couple of months.

Luckily, grooms only require a few weeks to get sized for rental suits or tuxedos. Plus, you can never go wrong with a well-fitted suit from your nearby Nordstrom, Macy’s, etc.

As for wedding rings, your local jeweler will lead you in the right direction with timelines. Or, opt for online shops such as Rare Carat, Brilliant Earth, Blue Nile, or even Etsy.

Invites & Other Fun Stuff

After securing your wedding date, invites are the next big step! Zola, Canva, Zazzle, and Shutterfly all offer cute wedding invitation templates and fast printing options. Or, go paperless with digital invitations that can be sent via text or e-mail ASAP. We said it above, and we will say it here…we love technology!

Even if you’re on a time crunch, you can still carve out time to enjoy moments together. This might include making a date night out of your catering and cake tastings, mixing up signature cocktail ideas at home, having a friend take some engagement photos, etc. These moments are key to dealing with wedding stress, no matter how long or short your timeline is.

Delegate, Delegate, Delegate

Whether you have a wedding party or are just leaning on your besties for support during your planning period, you can absolutely assign tasks to your loved ones.

Not only will they feel honored to help, but you will feel way better for having fewer things to accomplish,

Possible tasks include wedding favor assembly, vendor point-of-contact, playlist maker, wedding shower planner, bouquet assembler, dress fluffer, dog wrangler, event greeter/usher, etc.

The Most Important Stuff

Only two things are truly essential to get married: Your vows and your marriage license. Fortunately, it’s super easy to obtain your marriage license in Cuyahoga County, and your vows can just come from the heart.

At the end of the day, this is all about marrying your BFF. Whether you choose an elopement, a micro wedding, a courthouse ceremony now and a reception for your 1st anniversary, or a massive 100+ person wedding event…it’ll be a great day because it’s your day,

Cheers to 2026! If this is your wedding year, you absolutely got this and we’re here to help at The Elliot!
