Molly & Bill’s April Wedding at The Elliot

This sweet April wedding at The Elliot was full of personal touches, Spring notes, and easygoing vibes. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were hosted at The Elliot, and Molly & Bill took advantage of the entire venue — from getting ready on the balcony to having an intimate hang out with their wedding party in The Rosehip Room before the ceremony, as well as utilizing the beautiful spring day to take photos across the street at Lincoln Park.

PRE-CEREMONY PREP IN THE BALCONY

The Bride and Bridal Party utilized The Elliot’s Balcony & Bell Tower Suites from 10 am - 2 pm for a leisurely prep time in matching purple PJs for hair, makeup, mimosas and breakfast. Molly invited her hair and makeup artists to set up and use the sunny space for helping her and her party get ready, while the coordinator, florist, and DJ prepped The Ballroom for the ceremony.

FIRST LOOK IN FRONT OF THE ROSE WINDOW

Molly & Bill met for a private, intimate moment in front of The Elliot’s stained glass Rose Window to start their wedding day together. Their photographer, Milk Shop Photo, captured the reveal.

Having a first look allowed them more time together on their wedding day. It also provided ample time for family photos before the ceremony so that they could enjoy an intimate gathering in The Rosehip Room with their parents and wedding party, as well as cocktail hour with their guests following the ceremony.

WEDDING PARTY & FAMILY PHOTOS AROUND LINCOLN PARK

Taking advantage of the warm, sunny weather, the photographer joined the wedding party across the street at Lincoln Park to snap a few outdoor photos that perfectly captured this beautiful Spring day.

A PERFECTLY PERSONALIZED CEREMONY

A lovely ceremony was officiated by a family friend complete with two readings and vows written and read by the couple. The couple has notebooks with their vows written as a keepsake. A piece of personalized artwork served as their guestbook and as another reminder of their big day.

Dare Street Dahlias provided all florals, greenery, and centerpieces. The greenery draping the grand staircase created a romantic moment when the bride and groom walked down the stairs for their grand entrance.

The arch filled with violet and purple flowers and greenery served as the perfect backdrop to their nuptials and brought the Spring vibe inside the room.

COCKTAIL HOUR IN THE ROSEHIP ROOM

Following the ceremony, guests went downstairs to The Elliot’s Rosehip Room for hor d'oeuvres and ample cheese spread provided by a Taste of Excellence and bar service from The Elliot’s bar team. During this time, vendors worked quickly upstairs to flip the space.

A TRANSFORMED BALLROOM FOR THE RECEPTION

The floral arch was thoughtfully repurposed behind the couple’s sweetheart table, creating a gorgeous backdrop behind the couple for photos. A small serving cake from Hols Sweet Treats, candles, and purple flowers sat perfectly atop a lilac linen table.

Rock the House greeted guests back to the Ballroom with purple lights and soft music, making the room light up with a lavender glow.

Guest tables featured pink and purple spring flowers, a subtle pop of emerald green votives, and were framed with dainty bud vases.

DESSERTS & DANCING UNDER THE CHANDELIER

Following dinner, Molly and her dad dazzled the crowd with a choreographed dance before opening the dance floor. With the lights dimmed and the chandelier bright, the room was transformed once again while guests danced and mingled all night long.

LOGISTICS & TIMELINE

  • Doors opened to guests at 5 PM

  • Ceremony started promptly at 5:20 PM

    • Pro tip: The wedding party built in time to relax in The Rosehip Room before walking down the aisle. The coordinator did vows and ring checks and helped the wedding party line up downstairs so they could seamlessly walk upstairs and down the aisle.

  • Cocktail Hour: 6-7 PM

  • Reception: 7-11 PM

The Floor plan included 60” Rounds and a half-round sweetheart table.

  • Pro tip: Guests could move seamlessly from the dance floor to the bar by creating ample walk-through space and utilizing the other half of the room for tables.

ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE

My advice is about the planning process and it is: if you yourself, as the bride or groom, aren’t in the wedding business, let your vendors do their jobs. If they tell you something isn’t going to work, it’s not going to work! If you have no idea how something should be set up, let the vendor decide. Letting your vendors do their thing makes for the most smooth day ever. I’ve gotten SO many compliments on the various aspects of my wedding from the flowers, to the food and venue, and my response is always the same, “I let my vendors do their jobs!”
